about us

East Texas Funeral Home is owned and operated by Mr. George McGrede and his wife, Wanda. George was born and raised in Longview and graduated from Longview High School in 1962. He graduated from the Dallas Institute of Mortuary Science in 1963. Mr. McGrede operates several businesses and opened East Texas Funeral Home in 1993. He also holds a Group I Insurance License and is a licensed amateur radio operator, N5JDM, as well as a licensed pilot (private multiengine instrument).

Wanda is a retired schoolteacher and holds a B.S.,M.E.D. from UT and SFA. She is also a certified paralegal and a graduate of Dallas Fashion Merchandising College. She graduated with honors from Commonwealth Institute of Mortuary Science and is a life member of their Honor Society.
